Hi Alerisha!
How are you? I'm Nadine, a female student from Switzerland, and I got
your email address from the guestbook on Alan-Rickman.com . I have been
a fan of Alan Rickman for quite a while (since the first Potter movie I
guess; I can't really remember), and we (meaning me and my two best
friends) started a global project for his 60th birthday recently.
The project is based on the determination to make Mr Rickman the
greatest gift possible, which (in our humble opinion) would be to show
him that his work is appreciated everywhere in the world, across
cultural and linguistic boundaries.
Therefore, we are currently looking for sixty people (or groups of
people) from sixty countries (including us, so we actually need people
from fifty-nine other countries) who will make their contribution to a
world-spanning chain of birthday greetings.
Every participant will make a paper chain link on the front side of
which she or he will write a birthday wish for Mr Rickman in his or her
native language, whereas the back side offers the space and for an
individual design and a few personal words. We will collect the links
and put them together (they will add up to exactly 45 feet (almost
fourteen metres) and send them to Mr. Rickman, together with a list
containing name, country and language of every participant.
Oh, and just one last little thing concerning our project (that should
go without saying, but I'd like to clarify it anyway): Of course, your
participation won't cost you anything (except for a stamp in order to
send us your link once you've finished it), on the contrary: we hope
that every participant will gain from it by having lots of fun
contributing to the longest birthday gift Alan Rickman ever got. :-)
The purpose of this email is to inform you about Love-Linked to ask you
if you'd like to participate for your country Russia. As we doubt that
we're able to find enough participants via newsgroups or forums we
decided to also approach people directly.
You can consider this e-mail as a personal invitation, meaning that for
the next two weeks we will keep your place reserved. (There can only be
one participation for each country with a few exceptions that are
mentioned on our website). During this time, you can look at our
website on
http://www.love-linked.net to get more information about the project. If you like our idea, you can
confirm your participation by writing us a short e-mail (a simple "I'd
like to join" or "I want to participate" will do). After that (please,
not before!), you can start making your link by following the according
instructions on our website.
You can also build a team with other fans from your country and can join
as a group, or if you don't want to participate, you can also forward
this message to another fan from your country. (Please let us know if
you do so, and don't forward it to more than one person, because we can
only accept one link from each country.)
Please take note that we must receive your answer within two weeks.
After that, we will start looking for other fans from your country. If
you'd like to participate after these two weeks, you can still do so if
we haven't found another participant in the meantime.
If you have further questions (that are not answered on our website),
feel free to write back and ask your questions directly.
(Correspondence is possible in English, French or German.)
Sorry this got so long. Thanks for your attention; we would really be
glad if you joined us and are looking forward to hearing from you!
Best Wishes
Nadine
